Worship Today

We missed worshiping with our church family at Hope today. And "family" really is the right word -- we truly love the folks of Hope, and are so very blessed to share life's adventure together.
But we had a great time worshiping at my father's church in Texas this morning. That church family has a very different style and "personality," and I found it refreshing. More than anything, I could see why my folks have chosen to worship with the people of 1st Baptist in Whitney -- they were so very, very friendly! The auditorium reminded me a lot of the church where I grew up; it's been a while since I sat in actual pews and listened to a choir, a children's sermon, and everything.
I also enjoyed meeting Pastor Tim who will be leading the memorial service for my mom, as well as Angie who will be singing my mom's favorite song ("Just a Closer Walk With Thee"). Both seem like really sweet people with great hearts for both God and people.
One moment in particular struck me today. We were singing the hymn "How Great Thou Art" and got to the final verse -- "When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!" Tears spilled down my cheeks as I pictured my mom being called home by the Lord, bowing in his presence, and singing with the choirs of heaven.
I really miss my mom, and being in her home surrounded by all the reminders of her is an amazing experience right now. So many memories!
Tomorrow we'll meet with Pastor Tim to plan out the service, and later go through the closets to gather her belongings that can be donated to a local charity on Tuesday.

I pray that the comfort and peace of the Holy Spirit will rest upon you and pour through you all day tomorrow giving you the assurance that your Mom has something far greater in where she is right now than anything she has ever had before. Blessings, brother.
Please know that we are praying for you and your entire family.
We love you!
The Grays
