The memorial service for J.R. was awesome (and I'm not using that term lightly here). I am amazed and in awe of the impact that J.R. had on the lives of the people around him. I know how very special my own times were with him, and I really wish that we had known each other longer. I actually sat in the service feeling a bit cheated by God that J.R. was taken away so soon and so young. It's a very rare thing to find a man who is so passionate about his Father, so committed to connecting with other guys, and so selflessly persistent in offering encouragement, pespective, and loving confrontation. I hope that the lasting legacy of J.R. will be a contagious multiplication of his servant's heart among so many of us whose lives were touched by him.

My name is Scott Heine, and I'm on a life-long journey to become more like Jesus and to share his life-changing love with others. I'm the Pastor of Hope Christian Fellowship in Warrenton, Virginia — a great church family full of terrific people. My wife, Margo, and I have three teenage kids: Benjamin, Elizabeth, and Rebecca, along with a couple of spoiled English Springer Spaniels named Dixie & Rose.
