The Difference a Day Makes
>> Thursday, January 10, 2008
Our family stopped for the night a little outside of Nashville, with the plan of finishing the drive into Tulsa today and seeing my mom at the Cancer Treatment Center of America this evening.
However, I just received a phone call fro my dad that my mother passed away quietly in the middle of the night. We were one day too late in seeing her and being able to say goodbye. However, I'm confident that this is part of God's plan, since we are now only a few hours' drive away from being with my dad, encouraging and supporting him, and helping to make funeral arrangements. It also explains why we felt the need to drive instead of take advantage of one of the airline deals.
We'll head to Tulsa this morning, and then go down to my father's home in Texas on Friday. I'm sure the next couple of days will be filled with contacting people, making arrangements, etc., and I'll know more about what's happening soon.
Thanks for your prayers. This certainly was not what we were expecting when we scheduled this trip, but God knew it all well in advance. Sure, we're kicking ourselves for not leaving a day earlier or something, but I have this keen awareness of God's blessing right now. Not only has he provided by allowing our family all to be together today, but he has also spared my mom from what would have surely been a difficult medical ordeal.

Scott - God does work in amazing ways! On a whim, I did a Google search of your name today to see what you are up to. I am saddened by the news of your mother's passing - I remember her as a warm, friendly woman who always made us feel welcome in your home (oh so many years ago). My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please extend my condolences to your dad (Texas, huh? That's a long way from Fremont ;))
take care and God Bless!

Scott, Margo, Ben, Beth and Becky,
We are so very sad to hear of your loss. We are thinking of all of you including your dad, may you be strengthened to know God has a plan. We are praying for all of you and to God for His Will in all of this. We are always blessed in being put in your path back in AZ, God knew what He was doing and how we needed your support and Spiritual teaching.
May God be with you through all of this and may you be encouraged in knowing that Heaven is our and your mom's reward once our earthly work is done.
