It's A Small World

Beth called me yesterday to share an amazing story. We all know that the world is getting smaller. At least, it feels that way. Technology has done amazing things. I can press a few buttons in my house and make a telephone ring in New Zealand. I can flip on the TV and watch events taking place in Asia. Planes zip us all over the place in a fraction of the time it took our ancestors. But sometimes it's the old fashioned "small world" moments that still surprise me.

Apparently my family was driving through Tennessee and decided to grab a bite to eat. They saw a Chick-fil-a and pulled into the drive-thru. (Never mind how Margo managed to get the van and the trailer through the drive-thru; I'm still waiting to hear that part.) Now, Ben and Beth used to work for the Chick-fil-a in Goodyear, Arizona. They loved it, and I'm sure they had a part in choosing that particular restaurant for lunch.

As they pulled to the drive-thru window, imagine their surprise when they saw one of their former managers through the window. He left Arizona a while back and was transferred to California. Apparently he put in for a transfer to Tennessee since then. Naturally, they pulled into the parking lot and went in to say hello.

What are the odds that my family would pick that particular restauant on that day at that time in some unfamiliar place in another state and just happen to be served by someone they used to work with? Just blows my mind...

Oh, and by the way, they're all going to be here in Virginia tonight. Yay!

wow! Hard to believe that your family will finally be there with you. I know they will all come to love Virginia as much as you already do. And don't worry about the rest of us - we'll keep you updated about what's going on in our lives! :) Do they have any Chik-Fil-A's in Warrenton? :)

What a great story! I love how God loves to bless us and show us how important relationships really are. How wonderful for the kids! I just LOVE that about Him!
