Thank You

All day long I've been getting emails from folks at Compass, folks who were once part of Compass, and new friends at Hope offering humorous stories, encouragement in response to an anonymous critical poster here at the blog, celebrating the sale of our home, offering to help pack/unpack the truck, etc. Y'all are the greatest, and my heart is overflowing with joy. Thank you. As so many of you said, prayer is such a wonderful thing. We can open our hearts to the Lord and entrust him with everything — the people we encounter, the circumstances we face, the physical / emotional / spiritual needs of our lives, etc. And it's all the sweeter when it's shared with those you love and those who love the Lord together.

"Real theological thinking, which is thinking with the mind of Christ, is hard to find in the practice of ministry. Without solid theological reflection, future leaders will be little more than pseudo-psychologists, pseudo-sociologists, pseudo-social workers. They will think of themselves as enablers, facilitators, role models, father or mother figures, big brothers or big sisters, and so on, and thus join the countless men and women who make a living by trying to help their fellow human beings to cope with the stresses and strains of everyday living.
