Summer Rain
>> Wednesday, July 11, 2007
I love the rain. Maybe it's the after effect of living in the desert for the past decade and thirsting for the skies to open up. Maybe it's the sense of wonder at the rhythm of creation as God replenishes his world. Or maybe I'm just a big mushy romantic at heart.
Tonight I enjoyed dinner with Robin Statzer (a friend from Arizona and currently the secretary at Compass), her kids, and her parents as she's out visiting D.C. It was fun catching up and holding her little ones in my arms. And, of course, the steak was terrific. (Thanks, Fuzzy!)
On the way home, it rained. Not a hard, driving, dangerous rain. It was one of those soft summer rainfalls born from a humid day, gently falling with no wind. The water actually felt warm on my skin, and there was this strong, musty smell of wet earth everywhere. A chorus of croaking frogs greeted me from somewhere in the woods as I walked to the front door, and the sky had a kind of misty glow as lights glimmered in the rainfall. It was beautiful.
Thanks, Father, for your wondrous artistry displayed in sight and sound, smell and touch. It was warm, refreshing, and so utterly peaceful.

Hey Brother,
Don't my angels look cute. I miss them so much, not to mention Robin. I am glad to see that your house sold, what an answer to prayer.
I (we) miss you guys lots.
and btw Gods still trimming the vine at Compass some are dead and others he needs to graft into other churches.
Love in Christ
Robert
I forgot to mention that "Fuzzy" really can cook steaks, for that matter anything on the grill he does with perfection.
Also Football starts up soon so see if some of the boys will do a MNF someplace.
I will be out in that area (Silver Springs to be exact) for a week long training class around the 20th of August, so hopefully we could catch up.
