Mmmm!

One of our family's favorite traditions back in Arizona was the occasional lunch at Wongs. We loved their food, and the staff recognized us and remembered our favorite dishes. When my parents visited, we almost always started our time together at Wongs. It was always a special treat.

Since moving to Virginia, we've been seeking the best Chinese food in our new home town and I think we've finally found it -- just in time for my parents' visit next week. We've tried just about every place around, but our favorite has become Tops. The sesame beef is too sweet and the egg rolls are mediocre, but the hot and sour soup is terrific and the mu shu pork is the best we've had (even better than Wongs!).

But there are two huge drawbacks. First, the place is really for carry-out and doesn't offer a nice spot for dining. Second, they don't take credit cards, so you better have cash or a check with you. (How can any restaurant survive in this day and age without taking plastic?)

So Tops has joined the list of our favorite restaurants in town, alongside Tropical Smoothie Cafe (you have to try their Thai Wrap!), McMahon's, Panera (love their egg soufflés), and of course Carousel. Now if we could just find a great place for pizza...

I don't even know where Tops is! Wow, we don't get out much. :-) For pizza (as I said, we don't get out much). I really liked Jerry's next to Cold Stone when I visited a couple years ago. Vocelli also has good pizza in take out, but I don't know if they do eat in.

Being from Philadelphia, it's hard to find a good pizza in VA, but Vocelli's is good. For a great white pizza with spinach, it's gotta be Pizzarama (next to Panera).
When in Culpeper, Pete's pizza is the best. It's most like what I'm use to in Phila. Also, I must plug China for good Chinese. It's next to The White Elephant. They have the best General Tso's chicken. Just like your experience at Wong's, as soon as we walk in, Lilly starts to write up our order.

Scott where is Wong's? I noticed a sign on Indian School Rd. across from the Fry's Supermarket, but wasn't sure. When we are blessed with a little extra money our first splurge is Chinese food.
