New Bible

My kids gave me a new Bible for Father's Day this year. It's both large print for my aging eyes (yay!) and really thin. I have no idea how they combined those features, but I love it. And they got me the one with the really nice leather cover -- not that "leatherette" faux stuff, but the primo one. It's a New Living Translation, which is something I've found myself using more and more both in my personal study as well as my teaching. I've done some research into the translating principles and standards employed for the NLT, and have made comparison of a number of key passages with the original languages, and I'm impressed. I won't be leaving the diversity of study tools and versions available to me through Logos Bible Software anytime soon, but for sitting down with a hard copy of God's word and just reading, thinking, praying, and learning, it's really refreshing. I just love a new Bible! It feels like I'm discovering God's message all over again.

I bought that same version for my father-in-law a year ago (who has struggled for years with his KJV and had given up "Understanding") because of the readability. I didn't know the accuracy, but I liked the ease of understanding. I am grateful to know it is quite accurate, too! Thanks for sharing!
