Surprisingly Smooth

Our regular Worship Leader, Steve Klein, is away enjoying vacation time with his family. The Inson family is also on vacation, which means we're without our regular drummers, lead guitar, a bass player, etc. (talk about a musical family!) So Josh Alexander is putting together the music for the next couple of Sundays. Josh just graduated from High School this month, and this is the second time I've seen his leadership skills in action since he organized the big Battlecry event. He asked if I would sing with the Worship Team this week; in fact, he gathered several friends and put an entire team together. He picked the music (great songs, too!), printed lyrics and chord sheets, etc. At rehearsal last night I realized this was a group that had not played together. A couple of the team aren't even part of Hope. Some of the songs were new. And yet things could not have gone better. Everyone was on time, on stage, and ready to go at 6:00 p.m. By 8:20 we were done, and everything sounded terrific. I was amazed that so much could be pulled together so smoothly in such a short amount of time. What a pleasure! And I imagine that God has big things in store for Josh in the years ahead...

It is always great to see the "kids" stepping up and leading. I am blessed when hear stories like this; I don't think I would have been as bold when I was 17. Good on him! However, your blog headline made him sound like a really nice adult beverage. :)
