Some Enchanted Evening

>> Wednesday, December 26, 2007

What an incredible day! I am SO grateful for the leadership and youth at Hope for giving me an easy schedule this week; it's allowed me to spend some extra time with my family, and we're loving it.

Margo and I woke up very early this morning and drove down to Culpeper to take advantage of a couple of after-Christmas sales -- wrapping paper, some decorations for church next year, etc.

When we got back home, it was warm Harvest Muffins and a very special treat: this year's Doctor Who Christmas special. (The Internet is a wonderful thing for those of us unable to watch the BBC live...) We can't wait for the new season to begin in a couple of months. (What? You don't know what Doctor Who is? Well get over to the BBC's web site and see what you've been missing!)

Later we went out for Chinese food for lunch, ran a couple of errands, and then finally went and saw Disney's Enchanted. What a terrific movie! It was nice to see some traditional Disney 2D animation again (even if it was only a small part of the film). The story was wonderful, as were the performances. The musical number in the park was a real highlight! We haven't gone out to the movies as a family since last summer (it's just so expensive!), so this was a special treat.

(Of course, looking at the posters in the theater lobby, we'll have to save up for a couple of shows coming in May -- Prince Caspian and the new Indiana Jones film. Whoohoo!
