It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
>> Monday, November 26, 2007
Yesterday, on the way home from church, I heard Elvis croon "Blue Christmas," officially marking the beginning of the Christmas season. Last year, despite leaving the radio tuned to that elevator-music Christmas station in Phoenix, I never caught Elvis singing. I was so disappointed! But as my family can tell you, with Elvis and those famous backup singers blaring away (and with tears in my eyes... literally...) it's time for the holidays. Our family spent a couple of days decorating this weekend, and the house is looking terrific. We were particularly excited to have an actual fireplace (!) for hanging those gorgeous quilted stockings Margo made. After 20 years of marriage, this is the first home Margo and I have owned with a fireplace, and it's a lot of fun. I already enjoy sneaking downstairs on a chilly morning, lighting the fireplace, and sitting in the oversized chair to read a little. How fun to finally have a mantleplace of our own!

Funny you should mention Elvis. We hang an Elvis Christmas ball on our tree every year. My mom always put it on the tree, when I was a kid, in the seventies.
The day Elvis died was a tear fest at my house.
The fireplace looks wonderful! I'm happy you are enjoying it.
